Japan hands over pulmonary hospital to Yogyakarta

The Japanese Red Cross has handed over a Respiratory and Pulmonary Hospital to the Yoyakarta Provincial Administration said on Wednesday, Antara news agency reported. 

Head of the Yogyakarta Health Agency Bondan Agus Suryanto said the hospital located in Bantul, south of Yogyakarta, was the very first one of its kind in Yogyakarta. 

The hospital will also accept patients referred to from community health centers (puskesmas) or other types of hospitals, including patients from Yogyakarta's Dr Sardjito Hospital. 

The three-floor hospital stands on 1,063 square meters of land and has 42 beds, complete medical facilities, including a surgical ward. 

He said his office will also increase the capacity of the other units of t5he hospital in  Kalasan and  Kotagede to make it easy for patients from Sleman and Yogyakarta to seek medical help, and no need to came so far from  Bantul. 

Bondan said respiratory and pulmonary diseases will continue to exist, especially with the increase in HIV/AIDS cases, which will make it even more difficult to cure the affected persons.
