Tender for electronic toll collection system started

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The committee of the electronic toll collection (ETC) system said it has received bids for the new system this month.

"We are going to start the bidding in January," President Director of the state toll road management, Jasa Marga Tbk, Frans S Sunito said on Monday.

He, however, did not mention a specific date for the bidding.

He said the tender would be held for interested banking companies.

For the time being, he added, the cards would be used on the toll roads in Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi.

Later, he added, all toll roads will use the cards.

Three toll road operators PT Jasa Marga Tbk and two private toll road management companies PT Citra Marga Nushapala Persada Tbk and PT Marga Mandala Sakti, are making a bid.

Other operators can also join the bidding, he added.

Frans said the cards could be refilled free-of-charge and the bank interest would come from the circulation of the money in the banks.

The winner of the tender would be a bank able to manage the cards as efficiently as possible with the measuring equipment being formulated by the committee.

Previously, PT Jasa Marga Tbk had organized a tender but it was cancelled as it only the toll road management of the state company took part and the-refilling was charged.
