Bank Mandiri to finance three toll road sections

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned Bank Mandiri is set to provide credits for the construction of three toll road sections after financing 10 turnpike sections some time ago, the bank`s chief said.

One of the two toll road sections to be financed by Bank Mandiri was to be part of the Trans-Java Toll Road and the other one part of a non-Trans-Java toll road, Bank Mandiri President Director Agus Martowardojo said here Wednesday.

There was a foreign party who had expressed interest in investing in the project but Agus refused to elaborate on it. "There are a lot of foreign investors who are interested in the construction of turnpikes but I cannot provide further details about the matter," he said.

Bank Mandiri had disbursed Rp11.1 trillion to finance construction of toll roads in the country. Of the total, Rp5.7 trillion was used to fund the construction of four Trans-Java sections and Rp5.4 trillion was spent on building non-Trans-Java toll road sections.

"We are committed to the development of toll roads in the long run," Agus said.

Bank Mandiri had recently formed syndication with Bank BCA to disburse funds amounting to Rp1.461 trillion for the construction of the Cinere-Jagorawi toll road in South and East Jakarta. In this project, Bank Mandiri would provide Rp887 billion.

In the meantime, according to Agus, Bank Mandiri was also continuing to explore the possibility of financing electricity generating projects.

Bank Mandiri had provided Rp2.5 trillion for the implementation of 11 power generating projects so far.
