Australia to send auditor team to help Indonesia

Canberra (ANTARA News) - Australia will send its auditors team to Indonesia in June or July this year to realize its commitment to improving the skills of the State`s Audit Board (BPK) staffers through a training program, an official said.

"The team consisting of two or three auditors will give a training and supervision knowledge to stepping up the BPK`s staffers` skill in carrying out the auditing of work performance and financial matters," Bambang Riyanto, head of BPK`s training and education center told Antara at a gathering function in the residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Friday night.

The Australian government through its National Auditing Agency has expressed its high commitment to help improve BPK`s auditors` skill to conduct a modern auditing of the work performance and financial cases.

In addition to provide the supervision and training program in Jakarta, Australia has also given an opportunity to six of BPK`s auditors to participate in the apprenticeship activity in Canberra from January to December 2007 apart from taking Master`s Degree under the joint apprenticeship program and AusAID.

The six BPK`s auditors` apprenticeship program taking place at the office of the Australian National Audit Agency in Canberra.

Another BPK`s official Sandi Prasetya is now also studying at Master Degree of Law department in Canberra University under the sponsorship of Australian government.

Sandi is also a current treasurer of Indonesian Students Association in Canberra.

The friendly gathering in the residence of Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Hamzah Thayeb was also attended by the visiting Indonesia`s State Audit Board chairman, Anwar Nasution.
