Jakarta, 07-March-2007 (TEMPO Interactive) - SAS Institute Inc., a developer of software for business applications, plans to invest US$2 million, or around Rp18.4 billion, over the next three years for developing the business application market in Indonesia.

Erwin Chan, Chief Operating Officer of SAS Indonesia, said that the potential of the software market for business applications in Indonesia is still large.

“Especially in the banking, telecommunication and public sectors, because they all experience significant growth,” said Erwin yesterday (6/3).

SAS's CEO Jim Goodnight said that in general, the revenues of SAS in 2006 rose by 12 percent to US$1.9 billion, compared to US$1.7 billion in 2005.

The revenue hike was contributed to by the additional 1,300 new customers that entered the market in 2006, including Citi Info, Google Inc., Honda Motor Co., Ltd., HSBC Bank Canada and Texas Instrument France.

Contributions from the Asia Pacific region in 2006 were 10 percent of the total revenues of SAS.

“We will strengthen the market in this region in 2007,” said Goodnight.

The measures to be taken by SAS in order to reach their target include expanding its distribution network and combining the best technological solutions.
