China wants more intensive defense cooperation with Indonesia

Beijing (ANTARA News) - The Chinese government wants its defense industry cooperation with Indonesia to become stronger in the future considering that both nations already have a strategic partnership cooperation which includes the defense sector, a Chinese official said.

Director of State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (Sastind) Wang Yi Ren, said his side had formulated a draft on a memorandum of understanding between Indonesia and China on defense industry.

He made the remarks when receiving Indonesian Deputy Minister for Defense Affairs Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.

"With the MoU, we view that the relations of the two countries in the defense, particularly in the defense industry will undergo rapid progress in the future," Wang said.

Therefore, China was waiting for Indonesia`s response soon regarding the MoU draft.
He said that China had defense industry cooperation with a number of developing countries such as Pakistan in the production of war planes.

"We are sure that with the capability we have, the defense industry cooperation with Indonesia would undergo rapid progress and make achievements," he added.
