TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta:Three government offices in Surakarta became a model for professional public services, namely the Demographics Office, the Integrated Tax Services Office, and the Banjarsari sub district office. Surakarta Regional Secretariat Organization chief, Singgih Yudoko, said qualification of professional public services is obtained by achieving the ISO 9001:2008 certificate. This is an international-standard certificate for quality management system. “The ISO certificate proves that we are professional in serving the public,” Singgih said.
Having the ISO certificate, the office has now met the requirement for offering qualified public services standard, for instance by having a permanent procedure for services, a standard for minimum services, and measuring the public satisfaction index. Other offices will be encouraged to have similar ISO certificates to allow them to perform their duties efficiently and professionally. “We hope that professionalism will be applied,” Singgih said. There are 15 offices in Surakarta, four of which are government agencies while nine are part of the regional secretariats.
