U.S.oil company ExxonMobile Indonesia has asked for a permission from vice president Jusuf Kalla to build a storage capacity thus increasing its production in oil-rich Cepu Block of Central Java.

Chairman of the Indonesian Employee Association (Apindo) Sofjan Wanandi told kompas.com on Saturday that some Exxon representatives had expressed the request during a meeting with the vice president in Washington D.C. On Thursday.

"With the planned storage capacity, Exxon has expected that it can boost its production to between 20,000 and 30,000 barrel a day, higher than the current 10,000 barrel daily," he said.

He said that Exxon would build the storage capacity in Banyu Urip village of the province.

"Upon such request, the vice president said he would help Exxon boosting its production capacity to meet 1 million barrel per day he predicted," he said. (ewd)
