Pertamina to build new oil refinery with Wahan

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - State oil and gas company PT Pertamina will team up with local company Wahana Universal to build an oil refinery in East Java at an estimated cost of US$20 million.

Pertamina owns all seven oil refineries in the country, but its production is not enough to meet domestic oil fuel requirements. Pertamina Exploration and Production Director Hestu Bagyo said the two companies had signed an agreement to build the refinery, which would have a total processing capacity of 6,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Construction will start in October 2008 and is to be completed in December in the same year.
