Indonesia`s Bumi to invest US$1.2 bln in power plant

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Coal mining company PT Bumi Resources (JSX:BUMI) has announced a plan to invest, through its subsidiary PT Pendopo Energi Nusantara, US$1.2 billion in a project to build a coal fired power plant at its coal mine in Muara Enim in South Sumatra.

The power plant, which is scheduled to come online in 2013, will be run by a new company PT DH Power, said, Kaz Tanaka, vice president of BUMI.

Tanaka explained that the Muara Enim mine holds around one billion tons of coal, some of which will be used to feed the plant.
