Lafarge to build two cements plants in Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - PT Semen Andalas Indonesia, which is owned by France's Lafarge, has announced a plan to invest US$450 million in the construction of two new cement factories.

Semen Andalas will build the factories with a total capacity of 3.1 million tons a year in Aceh Besar and Langkat, North Sumatra, the Capital Investment Board (BKPM) said. The two cement factories will provide 850 jobs, BKPM said.

Semen Andalas' old factory in Aceh was destroyed by the tsunami that swept the province in December 2004.
