Slovakia
was planning to invest US$ 1 billion in Indonesia, visiting Slovakia President
Ivan Gasparovic told reporters on Monday in Jakarta.
He said the
investment plan would be included in seven agreements due to be signed on
Tuesday.
Gasparovic
delivered the plan after meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in
Merdeka Palace Jakarta on Monday.
“There are
fields to be explored in the areas of trade, agriculture, electricity, power
plant generators and heavy machinery,” President Gasparovic said.
President
Yudhoyono said Slovakia planned to construct a cement factory in Central Java
and West Papua, a tire factory in Banten and electrical power plants in Lombok
(West Nusa Tenggara) and Batam (Riau islands.
“Indonesia
has sent nine proposals to Slovakia. The proposals are in food and agriculture,
renewable energy, trade and investment, banking, education, mass media, infrastructure
and manufacturing, tourism and culture,” he said.
