The
Forestry Ministry promised that they would comply with instructions from
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to speed up the issuance of permits for
geothermal projects based in forest areas.
“When the
[permit] requirements are completed, we guarantee that it will take no longer
than three months for the geothermal permit to be issued,” Forestry Minister
Zulkifi Hasan said on Monday, as reported by kompas.com.
He added
that he had ordered his ministry officials to speed up the process in issuing
permits.
According
to Zulkifli, several companies have already proposed investments in geothermal
projects.
“Many have
proposed [projects],” he said, adding that he has signed several project
permits already.
