Rp 80b for expansion of Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Tue, 04/05/2011

Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II says Rp 80 billion (US$9.2 million) has been allocated to expand the passenger terminal at Husein Sastranegara Airport in the West Java capital of Bandung.

The terminal now covers 5,051 square meters of area and can accommodate up to 350,000 passengers per year. The plan is to expand the area to eventually cover 8,650 square meters of land and boost capacity to serve up to 1 million passengers annually.

“[The expansion work] is expected to be completed by 2013,” PT Angkasa Pura II director Tri S. Sunoko said Tuesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He said the first stage of the expansion plan comprised renovation of the existing terminal this year.

Tri added Angkasa Pura II was currently working on the 7.5-centimeter overlay of the airport’s runaway, which was scheduled for completion in mid-April.

He said the overlay work would cost about Rp 40 billion.

Husein Sastranegara serves both domestic and foreign routes, with AirAsia Indonesia contributing 79 percent of the international routes to and from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
