Australia launches website for earthquake safe house in Padang

The Australia Indonesia Facility for Disaster Reduction (AIFDR) has launched www.rumahamangempa.net, a website which provides information on an earthquake safe house in Padang, West Sumatra.

The launching was held in remembrance of the massive tremor that shook the city on Sept. 30 2009, damaging almost 250,000 houses and 7,000 public facilities.

“Given that West Sumatra is an earthquake-prone province, we expect the website will convey earthquake information to local people,” Australian charge d’affaires to Indonesia Paul Robilliard said during the ceremony.

The AIFDR will also promote the earthquake safe house on social networking websites, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, he added.
