The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Sun, 05/02/2010 5:06 PM

The National Education Ministry, in cooperation with media group Media Nusantara Citra (MNC Group), launched TV Citra Indonesia Terampil satellite-based educational television channel Sunday, which will be dedicated to broadcasting educational shows nationwide.

TV Citra Indonesia Terampil starts to broadcast on Sunday, using Channel 845 of Indovision cable television through the Indostar satellite.

“The channel will be broadcast to 1,000 spots in Indonesia, especially in remote areas,” Education Minister Muhammad Nuh told a press conference in Jakarta, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Nuh said the service will be provided for free, for both the TV programs and the receiver devices.

The CEO of MNC Group, Rudy Tanoesudibyo, said most of the new channel’s programs would focus on skills training as well as basic education as commonly taught at elementary and junior high school level.
