TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Indonesia signed on Tuesday (20/4) a seven million euro soft loan package from Germany to fund geothermal projects in the country, which some of the loan have been disbursed since 2007.
Director General of America – Europe at the Foreign Department Retno Masudi said after the signings with German Ambassador Norbert Bass at the Foreign Department, that Germany has the technology for the projects while Indonesia has 40 percent of the world's geothermal potentials.
“The projects will be developed in a mixed policy and aimed at taking geothermal contribution (in domestic energy use) to five percent by 2025.”
Both sides also formalised several past cooperations which include post tsunami reconstruction for Aceh, Central Java and Yogyakarta reconstruction since 2006, totalling 111 million euro.
