The Surabaya administration said Sunday it would replace the old three-wheeled minivans, locally known as bemo, with environmentally friendly bemo.
"We already have the new bemo design," city planning agency head Tri Rismaharini said as quoted by kompas.com.
The new bemo would have a bigger, air-conditioned space for passengers, while maintaining its three-wheeled design, she said.
It would use environmentally friendly fuel, she added.
