Geothermal Permits Signed

TEMPO Interactive, Bandung: West Java Governor has signed geothermal exploitation permits in Tangkuban Perahu Mountain and Tampomas Mountain, West Java.

“They have been signed,” said Head of West Java Energy and Mineral Resources Thahir Satrodiningrat yesterday.

The permist will be submitted next week to the companies that won the tender.

The names of the tender winners were announced in August 2008.

For Tangkuban Perahu mountain area, the winner is Tangkuban Parahu Goethermal Indonesia, a consortium between Indonesia Power and Raser from U.S.A.

For Tampomas Mountain aras, the winner is a consortium of two companies, PT Jasa Sarana dan PT WIKA. The power plant potential is estimated at 50 MW with an investment value of Rp1 trillion.

Thahir said that the West Java government is now preparing three new geothermal locations to be auctioned.

These are in Papandayan Mountain and in Gede Pangrango Mountain.

Meanwhile, the Lembaga Elektronika Nasional company is targeting to produce 6 MW of electricity in 2010 from the solar panel business.

Lembaga Elektronika Nasional’s Sales and Marketing Manager Agus Iswanto said that last year they installed 1.3 MW of electricity to villages and remote areas in Indonesia.

The area spreads from Aceh to Papua.

“Up until now there are about 200 thousand homes installed with solar panels,” he said.
