KSW eyes exports of 70,000 safety shoes per month

Safety shoes producer King's Safety Ware (KSW), Batam, said Tuesday it targets to produce 70,000 safety shoes a month next year, to meet demand from European countries, up from 40,000 a month this year.

KSW Batam managing director Sasmita Winata said the Netherlands and Germany had ordered shoes from its factory this year.

“The competition is very tight, but we are optimistic that we can produce more next year since we will acquire a German shoe producer so we will be more acceptable in the European market,” she said.

Between 2007 and 2009, KSW made 8 million pairs of safety shoes, she said.
