Indonesia needs Rp 104 billion (US$10.92 million) to participate in Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China, from May to October next year, but is aiming to reap Rp 1 trillion in total transactions, an official said Tuesday.

"Our target includes export goods, investment and tourism ... There will be business missions, trade missions, business forums, product and cultural promotions during the six months," Edy Putra Irawadi, deputy to the coordinating economic minister in charge of industry and trade, said after a meeting with the industry minister.

The Rp 104 billion budget will be used to rent a 4,000 square meter booth. In 2003, Indonesia spent Rp 20 billion to rent a 324 square meter booth, he said.

Industry Minister MS Hidayat said the government would make international-standard preparations for the expo, hiring professional event organizers.
