Regional Budget to Help Millions Job-Seekers

TEMPO Interactive, Padang:In coping with the global financial crisis, the West Sumatra administration hopes to provide 1,48 million workers with jobs projects funded by the Regional Budget. The disbursement of the Budget’s Rp1,74 trillion will be accelerated this year. The average number of workers being absorbed daily is 124.000 people. 

“Manpower can be absorbed by construction projects in the region with a total allocation of Rp 986,7 billion,” said West Sumatera Public Relations head, Suhermanto Raza. In his written statement yesterday, he said the task forces absorbing most workers are the construction projects in implemented by the Road Infrastructure, Transmigration, and Settlement Offices, valued at Rp502,2 billion. The projects hire 23.000 workers a day. 

With an allocation of Rp75,1 billion, the Natural Resources Management Office has absorbed around 14.000 workers.
