TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) aims to disburse Rp27-30 trillion in loans to state-owned enterprisess by 2009. BRI Institutional Business director, Aswandi Syam, said until the end of 2008, the bank gave out Rp 16.5 trillion in loans to state-owned enterprises and non of them have defaulted.

“The figure is still below the Rp22 trillion ceiling provided last year,” Aswandi said yesterday. He explained that the interest rate offered to these enterprises varied according to the risks involved on the projects carried out by the enterprises concerned. The interest rate was around 14 percent.

There are currently 47 state-run companies that have made the commitment to take up loans offered by BRI. This year, the company plans to make offers to 20 new state-owned enterprises that have never been given a loan. Aswandi said almost the credit scheme is a collaboration with other banks. Very little amount is attributed to BRI.
