Bids for the Regional Railway System to Begin This Year

TEMPO Interactive, Surabaya:Chief of Surabaya City Development Planning

Board, Tri Rismaharini, said the government will offer the construction of Surabaya Regional Rail Transport System for bidding this year. The project will be to develop of the train commuter system in Surabaya. "The distance is 152 kilometer long," she said yesterday. 

This kind of transportation is expected to reduce traffic congestion and to solve transportation problems in Surabaya. The railway will be built in Lamongan, Kandangan, and Mojokerto, passing a number of stations in Surabaya, like Pasar Turi, Kota, Gubeng and Wonokromo. Another railway will also be built to connect Waru, Sidoarjo, and Porong.
