Batam To Have Internet Center

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: To transform Batam into a digital area, PT Telkom yesterday launched the Telkom Internet Center at Batam International port. This center is the first to be launched out of the 50 Internet points scheduled to be installed in Batam. 

"Money is not the center of everything, Internet has one too," said PT Telkom General Manager for Riau Archipelago, Mulyanta. Accordin g to him, the international ferry port was selected for its strategic location as the entry point for Malaysian and Singaporean visitors. 

The Internet cemter operates the same as the Speedy system; it does not need a laptop to access the Internet. "But you will need a password and a PIN number," Mulyanta said.
