Thai firms to build PLTU in Jambi

Jambi  (ANTARA News) - EGAT International Co Ltd. and Intermining and Energy Co Ltd. of Thailand plan to build a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2X250 megawatts (MW) in the Indonesian province of Jambi. 

The two Thai companies will soon make a survey of coal-producing districts in the province, such as Bungo and Sarolangun, Jambi Governor H Zulkifli said on Monday. 

He said the Thai firms expressed interest in building the power plant when he visited one of the environment-friendly coal-fired power plants managed by EGAT International. 

EGAT International is Thailand`s largest state-owned company which manages power plants with a combined capacity of 4,180 MW. 

Zulkifli, along with Bungo district head H Zulfikar Ahmad, Batanghari district head Syahirsah, Muarojambi district head Burhanudin Mahir, Sarolangun deputy district head Cek Endra, and head of the provincial mining office Irmansyah Rahman, visited Thailand recently.
