Hundreds of Tsunami Scientists Meet in Aceh

TEMPO Interactive, Banda Aceh:Around 200 experts, policy makers, tsunami scientists, and disaster management experts from a number of countries attended an international workshop on tsunami management at the Syiah Kuala University, in Banda Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, which began yesterday and end tomorrow. 

According to the workshop steering committee member, T. Alvisyahrin, the event was held to study the tsunami disaster which took place in Aceh and some other countries around the Indian Ocean four years ago. “We hope the workshop can improve efforts to reduce disaster risks in disaster-prone countries,” he said.
