Indonesia`s Lippo Group to spend US$166 mln on hypermarket projects

Jakarta (ANTARA Nes/Asia Pulse) - The Lippo Group said it plans to invest Rp1.5 trillion (US$166 million) to open 15 hypermarket outlets in North Sumatra.

Chief executive officer of the Lippo Group James T. Riady said the prospects are good for hypermarket business in district municipal cities in North Sumatra, which recorded higher economic growth than the average for Indonesia.

Currently North Sumatra has only two hypermarket outlets - one in the provincial capital of Medan and in neighboring city of Binjai.
