Indonesia`s PLN secures US$1.9 bln loans for power plants

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - State power company PLN said Monday it had secured US$1.9 billion in loans for the construction of its five coal-fired power plants to be built under the government's crash program.

PLN President Eddie Widiono said the company is set to sign financial packages with six banks in February. Widiono refused to identify the banks, but the loan will cover 40 per cent of the capital needed for the program.

Under the crash program to cost around US$4.8 billion), PLN is to build new coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 10,000 megawatts to be completed before 2010.
