Lippobank launches charity program

JAKARTA (Jakarta Post): LippoBank launched a 'shopping and sharing' program Wednesday as part of its corporate social responsibility program.

Starting from Nov. 9 to April 30, 2008, the bank will donate Rp 60 from every Rp 25,000 of a shopping transaction through Lippo credit and debit cards, every Rp 500,000 property and vehicle credit installment and every Rp 100,000 personal loan installment.

"All our customers need to do to participate in this charity program is just shop and shop," said Henk G. Mulder, president Director and CEO, claiming the program was the first ever in Indonesia's banking sector.

Suhaimin Johan, head of LippoBank consumer banking, said the program is expected to raise Rp 1-2 billion during the six-month period.

The donations will go to three social foundations; the Kompas Social Fund, the Loving The Country's Children Foundation and the Indonesia Brain Foundation.
