Total finds more gas in Mahakam block

The Jakarta Post

JAKARTA: Total E&P Indonesie, the local affiliate of France-based oil giant Total SA, announced Wednesday that it had made two new gas discoveries in the southern part of the offshore Mahakam block in East Kalimantan.

A release sent to The Jakarta Post stated that the gas was discovered at two wells -- East Mandu-1 and West Stupa-1 -- a few kilometers from the Stupa field, part of the company's Mahakam block.

The Stupa field is expected to enter into commercial production by 2012.

Total is the operator of the Mahakam block with a 50 percent interest, while another 50 percent is owned by Japan-based oil company Inpex. -JP
