Russian investor to build power plant in West Sumatra

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Power Machine, a Russian private company, plans to build a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 4 x 135 megawatts in Pasaman, West Sumatra.

The project, to be completed in 2009, was estimated to cost S$540 million (US$354 million), to be provided by the Russian contractor, an official said.

The project was part of a cooperation agreement between the two countries in the energy sector, Metal, Machine and Multifarious Industries director General Ansari Bukhari said.

Russian investors had shown enthusiasm for investing in the country's energy sector, he added.
