PLN to buy 8.02 mln tons of coal/year from four suppliers

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-run electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) had signed a 20-year contract to buy 8.02 mln tons of coal per annum from four suppliers, with the first delivery due in 2009, PLN deputy director Tonny Agus Mulyantono said.

Under the terms of the contract, the price of the coal will be in the range of 230,000-280,000 rupiah per ton, Mulyantono was quoted by XFN Asia as saying.

He said the coal would be supplied to five power plants.

The suppliers are PT Baramutiara Prima, PT Titan Mining Energy, a consortium of PT Arutmin Indonesia and PT Darma Henwa and a consortium of PT Kasih Industri Indonesia and PT Senamas Energindo Mulia.
