FajarPaper expands capacity, ups sales

The Jakarta Post

JAKARTA: PT Fajar Surya Wisesa, a publicly listed producer of recycled packaging paper, has announced that its sales surged by 55 percent to Rp 992 billion (US$109 million) in the first five months from the same period last year.

The sales boost was attributable to a 40 percent increase in production capacity of sack packaging FajarPaper from 500,000 tons to 700,000 tons to satisfy rising domestic and international demand.

"We have secured orders from Asia, the Middle East and Europe as demand for sack paper has risen significantly," said president director Winarko Sulistyo.

Fajar Surya managed to generate $20 million in pre-tax earnings for the first five months, up 81 percent from the same period of last year.

Winarko said that as the company's capacity had increased, its total sales were expected to increase by 47 percent to Rp 2.5 trillion this year from last year's Rp 1.7 trillion.
