Indonesian jv KMI puts new dairy plant into operation

Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - PT Kalbe Morinaga Indonesia (KMI), a joint venture between pharmaceutical company PT Kalbe Farma and Morinaga Milk Industry Co. Ltd of Japan, has put into operation its new dairy plant in West Java.

The plant, built at an estimated cost of US$50 million in Karawang, will serve as the production base for Morinaga milk destined for the Southeast Asian market, its President Teguh Nugroho said.

The factory has an annual production capacity of 12,000 tons of milk, which could be

boosted to 15,000 tons if needed, Teguh said, adding that demand was expected to surge by 20 per cent annually.
