Sumitomo to build US$38 mln geothermal plant in Indonesia

Tokyo (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Sumitomo Corp. (TSE:8053) has received a 4.5 billion yen (US$38 million) order to construct a geothermal power station for an Indonesian utility.

Slated to start operations in February 2009, the facilities are to output 20,000 kilowatts, enough to supply roughly 10,000 households with power.

The order was placed by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, with the facility to be assembled on the northern part of the island of Sulawesi using turbines and generators manufactured by Fuji Electric Systems Co. PT PLN will buy the equipment from Sumitomo using funds borrowed from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
